Where is the annual Guelph & District Multicultural Festival held?
The Festival is held at Riverside Park – 709 Woolwich St, Guelph, ON, N1H 7G6.
Who organizes this event?
The Multicultural Festival is organized by a not-for-profit organization called “Guelph & District Multicultural Festival Inc.”
Is there an admission fee?
It is a free event to attend! We do not charge an admission fee, but we would appreciate any donations at the gate to ensure the organization’s sustainability. Our volunteers go around the Park during the event requesting donations.
Where can I park my car?
We highly recommend you take either public transit or ride your bike, as parking is limited.
City public transportation will be available for Festival attendees; see the timings and lines that go to Riverside Park. Parking will be available on-site for guests. Please see the map for appropriate parking spots
Can I bring my bicycle to the Festival?
A gentle reminder that no bikes will be allowed in the Park where the Festival activities are taking place. However, you can bike to Riverside Park during the Festival weekend and leave your bicycle in a secure and free valet bike parking supported by the Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT).
Where is the Information Booth?
Located on the left-hand side of the main entrance of the Festival. Volunteers will be able to check in for their scheduled shifts. Brochures will be available for Festival attendees to take with them.
Can I volunteer?
Yes you can! The Festival is always looking for more volunteers to help out. Here is a list of the volunteer positions. If you have any questions, please email info@gdmf.ca.
Can I volunteer on the days of the Festival?
Yes! There will be an option for people to do walk-in volunteering, and further information can be found at the Information Tent.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes – dogs are permitted on the Festival grounds. Please ensure that you follow bylaws set by the City of Guelph as Riverside Park is a public park. However, dogs will not be permitted to enter the Food Tent unless it is a service dog, and the appropriate documentation can be verified.
As this is an outdoor event, are there any shaded areas?
There are shade tents available in front of the Main Stage. Please be considerate and share the shade. The shade tents are reserved for people with disabilities, elderly, pregnant people, and parents with infants. Spaces cannot be reserved.
Be aware of symptoms of heat exhaustion and stay cool by enjoying the shade tents, wearing a hat, using an umbrella, and drinking water.
Will there be a WiFi spot on-site?
WiFi is not provided during the Festival. Festival attendees are encouraged to plan appropriately with their cell phone companies.
Is this a public or private event? What if people are taking photos?
This is a public event and is held in public space. It is a free event. Members of the public are entitled to take photos and videos.
Would you cancel if the weather is bad?
Nope! The Festival goes on rain or shine! Please check the local weather forecast and dress accordingly before coming to the Park.
Am I allowed to bring my own alcohol?
No one is permitted to bring alcohol into the event.
Is there an ATM on-site?
ATM cash machines are inside the Food Tent behind the stage. Some vendors may only accept cash, but some will also accept credit and debit cards. Please talk to the vendor before purchasing.
Will there be Security on-site?
Security will be present inside and around the perimeter of the Food Tent. In an emergency, tell any Festival Coordinator in the blue T-shirt.
What if someone gets injured? Is there someone to administer First Aid?
The First Aid tent is located between the Food Tent and the Main Stage of the Festival site and is staffed by paramedics. In case of an emergency, please head to the First Aid tent or find a Festival Volunteer (red t-shirt) or Coordinator (blue t-shirt) as soon as possible.
Is there a Lost and Found?
It is located at the Information Booth. After the Festival is over, items will be moved to the Guelph & District Multicultural Festival Office, located at 123 Woolwich St, Unit # 203. They will be kept for a month and then donated if unclaimed.
Are there any activities to keep children active?
The Children’s Tent is open for the duration of the Festival until scheduled activities stop. See the Brochure for more detailed information. Multiple community groups will host the Children’s Tent, which will feature colouring, face-painting, and scheduled activities throughout the weekend.
Please do not leave your children unattended.
Will there be access to drinking water?
Absolutely. However, water will not be sold at this event.
Bring your water bottles for a free fill-up at the City of Guelph Water Wagon located to the left of the Main Stage. Water is tested regularly to ensure its quality and safety.
